CLEVELAND HOUSING NETWORK AND MEDINA METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY - MENWA APARTMENTS

TC Architects is currently working with the Cleveland Housing Network and Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority on the renovation of the Menwa Apartments in Wadsworth, Ohio.  This 70-unit, three-story senior apartment complex will be renovated and enhanced under this comprehensive program.  This project is being developed through Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) utilizing Housing Development Assistance Program (HDAP) funding.

Each of the 70 units will receive new finishes, kitchen cabinets, lighting, ADA door hardware and ENERGY STAR®-rated appliances as part of the renovation.  All public community areas will receive new finishes as well as a conversion of the existing toilet rooms to be fully accessible.  Air conditioning will be added throughout the facility by the use of new, energy efficient, VRF units and the fire suppression system will be updated.  The community kitchen will be renovated to provide new casework for additional serving space and security for after hours.  Four apartments will be reconfigured to be fully accessible and two apartments will be enhanced for the sensory impaired.  The entry doors will be replaced with new accessible entrances.

The site will also be enhanced by providing accessible parking spaces and an accessible route to the main entry.  Several new parking spaces will also be added to the site to help alleviate the parking shortage.  A new covered entry feature and waiting area will be added to the front of the building to provide cover while being picked up or dropped off.  A new picnic pavilion, patio and walkways will be added to provide the residents with much needed outdoor activity spaces with a direct connection to the existing social hall.
