EHDOC - PIAZZA APARTMENTS
Piazza Apartments is a new, 60-unit, affordable senior housing apartment building designed for independent living.
EHDOC, a national non-profit housing developer, was awarded the funding for these units under the highly competitive Department of Housing and Urban Development 202 Program. TC Architects was a key part of the application process, developing conceptual site and building plans to submit as part of the application for funds.
The affordable senior housing building is located adjacent to an existing ten-story EHDOC property in a residential area. The design of this new five-story building serves as a transition into the low-rise residential area. The façade reflects design characteristics of the Mission and Arts and Crafts styles which are the dominant influence in this community.
The affordable senior housing building provides visitability to all of the common areas and to the 60 apartments. Five percent of the apartments were designed to be fully accessible. The first floor provides various opportunities for social interaction and resident services. The area has a waiting area, lobby, mail area, lounge, service coordinator, library/computer center, community room, and health and wellness center.
TC Architects takes pride in being part of the EHDOC team in developing this type of affordable senior housing all across the United States.
